ReplyDeleteOkay, you know I love you and also that I am insane... but I just have to point out real quick... The usage of the caduceus as a medical symbol (particularly in the United States, sigh, we're becoming embarrassingly illiterate on Classical matters)... came about by mistake.
ReplyDeleteThe ~proper~ medical symbol is actually the Rod of Asclepius (god of medicine) - which is a staff with a single serpent entwined. The staff that Hermes carries is the Caduceus which has two serpents coiled around it, and is topped by a pair of wings.
The Rod of Asclepius is the correct symbol of medical establishments and agencies. Mixing it up with the Caduceus is a mistake, albeit a common one.
Your new butt must belong to Dionysus, Bacchus, Silenus - or one such sex, drugs, & rock n' roll god :)
